Hi (relevant person here)!

I just went through the Off Topic and Rants forums, catching up from before the weekend, and a few of them won't display. They come up with "No member profile found for member number: 00014956 " or "00012767."

There's about half a dozen such threads, with one of those two member numbers. Here's an example. (http://www.linuxnewbie.org/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=22&t=006962)

I don't know who those two people were or why they're gone, but it's screwing up those threads. I can't view them.

There seem to be alot of 'problem' posts at the moment. I expect that there is no full time administrator for this site, since Sensei was ousted, so fixes will prolly not happen quickly.

LNO is a GREAT place and DESERVES a full time Admin, one that cares about the site, how it came to be and why it came to be. The front page hasn't been updated since Sensei left, as far as I can tell neither have any other pages and the BB keeps falling over in all sorts of little ways.

To those of you at internet.com: Give Sensei his job back, if financial concerns really won't allow that then put someone in the driving seat that has the time to give LNO the attention it deserves. This is the best site for new Linux users and has done much to ensure new linux users become confident linux users.

Don't put LNO on the back burner, you would be doing us a great disservice, by us I mean Linux newbies.

Why did they get rid of Sensei anyway? Are they trying to bring this site down or are they just being stupid? could it just be me that has those thoughts?

I think they are just struggling for cash. The dot coms are all feeling the pinch and admins don't come cheap.

I believe that happens when a user is deleted incorrectly. Any thread that user posted to produces an error when someone tries to visit it. A bug.

I think Toi Mak got deleted recently. That could be the cause of it...

Right now there's no "(relevant person here)", but hopefully there soon will be and all the forum issues will be resolved quickly. I'm confident that this will happen soon, but can't be 100% sure.

Actually, I think Toi may be related to Mae Ling. A long time ago (his first post, I think) he seemed to indicate that he knows her.

Well, I'm one of those who's profile got messed up so I can no longer login as my regular username. I had to create a new "dummy" account just to get in and find out what was going on. Emailing linuxnewbie has not produced any results (no email replies).

By the way, I am RoofRabbit and would like to log back in as my normal name and member status.

Does anyone know if this is something to be corrected or am I just outta luck?

it is still as strike posted above, nobody has the access to fix accounts at this time , so the only recourse is to make a new account, for now, sorry :(

I could not log in with my old username. I was already a Grasshopper!
And guess what? Sensei was still greeting me when I set this new login up.
What is going on with this board? Are they going to just let it go totally down? What a shame!
I'm heading over to the competition &lt;whisper&gt;won't say it, don't want to get anyone in trouble&lt;/whisper&gt;. Their BBS has a lot of cool features, and at least I know somebody is taking care of it.

I am the member 12767. I get the same stupid message when I try to log in here. This just plain sucks.

i understand your frustration, and your posts and not being ignored, at least not by me, as soon as someone has the ability to try and correct these user accounts, it WILL be worked on
until we have the access to the tools to work on the accounts, all we can do is ask that you continue to be patient, and perhaps, while you are here, you can answer some questions for some newbies? ;)
