I am interested in getting a freebie of SuSE. I have gone to a ftp site and found the SuSE directory. My questions are:
1. Is the folder that says 7.2 the files on one CD. In otherwords if I download everything in the 7.2 folder can I just burn these files onto a CD and get the install CD.
2. The folder live-eval-7.2 has an ISO image. Is this the full version that I would get by downloading the individual files or is this as the name suggests an eval version that is not quite the full 7.2 version.
Thank you for your patients and your help.

you need to go to the "disks" directory and get the one that fits ur situation. (ReadMe). Then boot the correct kernel on a boot disk and boot the system with it. A program called yast2 should come up and from there it configures the system and downloads the files and automatically sets it up for you. Be very sure to get the right kernel to boot with.

This is great except I only have a 33.6 modem at home and I do not want to have to download from that machine. I was hoping to download what I needed from work with my T1 connection.

SuSe is a great ditribution... although i've found out that the ISO that you down load isn't the same as the disk SET that you get when you purchase the box set. In SuSe's words the single ISO is their "freeware/shareware" version while the boz that you buy is their full version and can have as many as 6 CDs (as of SuSe version 7.0). Of course nearly all of the information on the rest of those 6 CD's can be obtained from the internet but the nice thing is that it already there on CD for you to install and you don't have to spend large amounts of time down loading all of the software that you want because there is a good chance that it is already on the disks.

You COULD do a base install (it says how do do that in a doc or soemthing) or do a network install...Or something like that...
I agree with Harvey
But Suse7.2 is even more friggin' awesome!!!
If you can afford it, part with the bucks.

SuSE (with a small "u" and a large "E"!) is IMO the very best starters-distro. For experienced people I'd recommend something else...
Well worth the bucks for the massive book it contains, atleast when I bought 6.4.
The live-eval thing is pointless if you'd ask me.
If possible do a web-suck of all the files in the 7.2 directory. (heh, you could boot up a LIVE-EVAL CD at work and use "wget" :D )
Burn the files.
Boot from floppy at home and install'em that way.
(Although it could be messy if you don't know what to install or if YaST can't find what's it needs.)
