Hi there,

I want a user I added via linuxconf to be able to FTP to and from a specified directory. I have been able to create a public_html directory that is visible from the Web, but when the new user tries to log in to the server he gets a "connection refused" message. I have been trying to find a place where I add names of users who can log into the server via FTP, but no luck. BTW, I would also like to disable this user from logging into the terminal itself. Any ideas??

Please tell us what FTP server you're using, so we can have an idea of where to start.

Hi there,

I have no idea how FTP is running on my machine! I have a Dell server with Red Hat 6.2. I have also installed the RealServer. It used to be that the server would just refuse root, now it is refusing all the real users.

Any thoughts on what config files to look at? I don't want anonymous FTP, I only want real users to have FTP, and I don't want the real users (other than root) to have access to the physical machine.

Thanks a bunch!

you can set the ftp access parameters in the
/etc/ftpaccess file.
