You may have read my last post about not getting anything to run. Well, I had it up and working with only a few problems...

I need to use a boot disk. LILO just can't seem to write anything to my mbr correctly. I always just get 01 01 01 01 print on my screen. Using the boot disk is ok though.

I went to try to install the internet connection sharing through their wizard and everything got weird. I went to run Konqueror and it just would try loading for a while then disappear. Same with any other program. I go to log out. Clicking logout brings up the dialog, but it freezes my system. Nothing works except hitting the Windows key on my keyboard. I just hit space a bunch of times hoping it woudl be caught and log me out. It worked. I try again and KDE won't load.

So, I reinstall Linux. To make sure my settings are correct I only have my NIC plugged in that goes to my cable modem. It finds it and sets up the internet just fine. So I turn it off and install the other, it finds it and installs it. I go into KDE and set up that network card for my local network. It finishes setting stuff up (I really wish i would tell you what it is doing instead of an almost black screen that acts as if it has crashed (drag another window over top of it and it won't redraw)) so I try Konqueror to make sure I can still get to the net. It does the same, tries to load for a long time thing. I have to reboot. I try going in KDE again and it takes about 4 minutes to load. Takes forever on "load desktop" and which ever is after that.

Same problems as before, so I try Gnome instead. On my login screen the HOSTNAME is my cable modem's address, and it during bootup said eth0 and eth1 loaded up just fine. But Gnome tries finding the address for it and fails. Then it tries to load Gnome and it hangs on the first part of loading.

Any one have any clue on what this problem could be?
