I'm about to open the site www.brokencouch.com (http://www.brokencouch.com) (well actually... it wont be ready for a while... but i'm working on that). Anywho... I have a limited supply of items to sell... often only haveing one of something... a fear has crossed my mind... lets say two people are at my web page and both want the same one item... one person purchase the item first and then the second person trys to purchase the same Iteam. How (or what do i need to have setup) so that when the second person goes to buy an item they will get a message saying that the item is no longer available.

I want something a little more professional then sending the second person an email says... "sorry... you were two seconds short... but thanks for all your personal info anyways..."

thanks again...
Will

you should set-up your inventory database mark the item you sold to return 0 available to the script you are using to sell the item...and after that you can set up the message the customer will see.

if you are using a database and script.

such as SQL and cgi-scripts.....

I would like to suggest that you use cheap POS systems (http://www.retailexpress.com.au/pos/point-of-sale-systems.asp) to help you out in managing the inventory. Good Luck to your business!
