WU-Ftp Server prob

Hi!
Ive running wu ftp on mandrake 7.2
following prob:
When i log into my server from a remote computer by using ws ftp pro or another ftp-client i enter the username marcel.
but when i enter my normal linux user passwort for marcel ther server answers that the login
is incorrect. WHY? is there any command for ftp like smbpasswd or so which configures the password and user for ftp??? :(

Is the user your trying to log into root?

root by default can't log into WU-FTP.

But, as anyone else would suggest, I would try ProFTPD. It's much safer, plus, I think easier to work with!

Great Idea, but how do i configure proftp exactly?
I uninstalled wuftp and installed proftp.
now:
1. what have i got to insert into /etc/inetd.conf?
2.how do i set up users?
example: username: marcel password: testpwd
???
Please help me .... :eek: :confused:
