Postgresql won't run

I have postgresql installed on my redhat box. It was installed by default.
Ok, when i try to run postmaster, it can't find the data directory.
I've searched the entire drive for it, but there is no data dir.
What am i missing here? I tried to install the rpm's again, but redhat says it is already installed. Why is this data dir missing?

If i'm correct you need to use one of the scripts in pgsql/bin directory in order to setup the data/db directory (pg_install_db or something).Hope this helps.
