Installing PHP as a shared object for Apache

when i try to configure PHP to be built as a shared object (.so file) it complains that my apxs script is "most likey broken" I have tried everything that is listed in the PHP faq, nothing works. I am running RedHat 6.1 and there is a previous install of apache aside from the source I am using to build PHP. If anyone knows what I should do to get it to work it would be greatly appreciated.

There were many posts about apache & php and how to get them to work.I'll repeat after "Sweede" get rid of the rpm's and use the source.Have you checked the apache/php NHF?Might give it a try or see www.devshed.com (http://www.devshed.com) for some more howto's.HOpe this helps.
