Firewall distro? Pretty much any Linux distro can be configured to be a firewall. I'd recommend going with a distro that's small though like Slackware or some of the mini-distros that include ipchains/iptables in them.

I'll move this to Security so you can get more replies.

if you mean on a dedicated stand alone box
if you want something simple/easy
check out Single Network Firewall 7.2 (http://www.mandrakesoft.com/products/snf)

if you want to do it all your self, then as X said, take you pick

If you have an old 486 box lying around doing nothing, get SmoothWall (http://www.smoothwall.org) for this one. Excellent firewall/router/DHCP server/VPN server/and-what-not, but thats the only use also.

Cheers :)

Not linux but one of the better ones (and the one I use) is openBSD for performance/security. For something even more stripped down Linux Router Project is my personal favorite, a bit tricky to set up but fits on two floppies, requires next to no hardware, has ipsec support and loads into ram if you want to set it up that way (in otherwords combined with setting your floppies to not being writable you can't have your rules screwed with). Best I've used for stripped down.
