ok i finally got apache running...NOW...
the setup i have is a windows machine and a mandrake 8 machine, both plugged into an 8-port hub with a cable connection.
the ip addresses of the two machines are different....and im assuming that the one on the windows machine is the valid one (it was here first) and that the one on the linux box is not...at least not for accessing from the outside world....in order to give my linux box a valid ip to serve up webpages do i need to setup ip masquerading? or should it be working as is..or what?

thanks
wurmy

You will probably have to set up ip masquerading, but it depends on your cable company. If they only allow you 1 IP address (which is probable), then you'll have to set up IP masquerading.

ok another question...
im going to be setting up a third system as a firewall, should i just wait and make that the router that does the ip masquerading, or will it work the same if i use the same system with apache on it to do the ip masq?
(*sigh* i wish i knew all this stuff already...)
