Greetings,

Wondering if anyone else has hand this problem before...

I used to be able to run Quake3 and run it fine. After a few minor changes to my system, it no longer wanted to work. The minor changes were Recompiling the kernel to support IPC V and Loop devices.

Anyways, I reinstalled Quake3, hoping that might solve it, but I still get the same problem...

What happens is I can boot into Quake3 fine, open up a level, but the level doesn't seem to load the wall/floor/roof textures??? Not sure what the deal is here.

I think this could be a GL problem, so going to check it out a bit, but it is just strange to suddenly start happening.

Running a Nvidia GF2 MX 400 on a AMD 1.2gig Athlon A7A 266 (think that's the model) with 256 DDR ram.

Thinking Quake3 is looking for a Voodoo card, and is sending the wrong information?

Any help would be gratefully recieved.

Did you get your NVIDIA drivers from source an compiled them yourself? If so, you need to do it again so they find they discover the "new" kernel. Make sure to use the SYSINCLUDE=/path/to/src/linux/include option.

hrmph. have you updated X recently? perhaps you overwrote your nvidia glx libs, so fetch the NVIDIA-GLX tarball and reinstall them.
