I am currently looking into upgrading my XF86 to the 4.0.2 version but have a few questions first.

How exactly do i backup my current installation? I saw on XFree86's site that I could just copy the /usr/X11R6 directory. Is that all or is there something missing?

Do you suggest I use the script that they provide or should I install in manually?

If anyone has any suggestions and/or things I should watch out for please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Zach

I got a 3dfx Voodoo 3500 TV/AGP. Does that matter or anything?

Is the /usr/X11R6 the only directory that I should back up or are there others too?

Since you have voodoo card check dri.sourceforge.net and glide.sourceforge.net.On dri page there's a gudie/howto get the source and compile it.If you feel that this is to much then get the bins from www.xfree86.org (http://www.xfree86.org) and upgrade. As for backing up your current xfree, there's only two dirs /usr/X11R6 & /etc/X11.Hope this helps.
