You're at the right place already. I have yet to encounter a problem I haven't been able to find a solution for either by doing a search of the forums here or checking the NHF's (http://www.linuxnewbie.org/nhf).

A good place to start may be the RedHat website. They have pretty good support pages and html and pdf manuals for all their recent distributions that you can browse online or download and view offline. If you have a specific question about anything then post it here and there'll be someone who can help you out.
Here's a few:

MGS,
Here are a few short answers to your questions (I was in the middle of writing a more in-depth reponse, but I was using my Windows box, and it crashed... what a surprise!).
Books:
"Running Linux, 3rd ed." by Matt Welch, published by O'Reilly & Associates
"Mastering Linux, Premium edition" by Armand Danesh, published by Sybex
"Unix Power Tools" edited by Eric S. Raymond,
also published by O'Reilly
"Linux Undercover", published by Red Hat (unfortunately, I think this is now out of print)
Sites:
Obviously, this one, once you get to the point where you need answers to specific questions.
"www.linuxdoc.org" As its name implies, home to all Linux documentation. Includes Man pages, HOW-TOs, and books, which can be viewed online or downloaded
Hope this helps to get you started...
