I can get it fine. I can install it fine. I run it and I can happily dance around the menus and set configurations and refresh the server browser...

But whenever I try and join a game, it connects and then starts loading everything into memory, and once the little bar at the bottom of the screen is full and it is about to pop me into the game, it dumps me back out into the menu. EVERY SINGLE TIME. Even with starting my own server.

Anyone else had problems with this? I don't see why it wouldn't run on my system. I mean, RtCW is just a heavily-modified Quake 3 engine, and Quake 3 runs beautifully (as beautifully as a PCI card will allow) under Linux on my system. Is it that much of a stretch that RtCW won't play on my box? And hey, it runs fine under Windows...

I got a LAN party to go to tomorrow. =/ I wanted to impress the guys with my Linux desktop but I can't even get half the stuff I want to show off working, including RtCW. *whimper*

I run MDK8.1 RC1 on an T-Bird 800 w/512MB RAM and an ATI XPert 128 PCI Bus 16MB RAM vid card. And no, I don't have a PS/2 mouse. =')

That's probably a permission problem: change the owner of every files in that directory to your username. Ismahel had the same problem and that's how he fixed it.

Thanks a bunch, Vince! I'll try it out when I get home.. haven't been able to get online for a while.. network card keeps on crapping out (thank God I only wasted 4 bucks on it)...

chown -R username /usr/local/games/wolfenstein

for anyone else that has this problem. Atleast that's what I used.
