any future for directx 7+ support?

my dream is to be windows free...unfortunately, i play Everquest and it does not run in linux (using wine, or vmware) because of directx. does anyone know if this is being worked on, and whether it is going to be in linux itself, or will the support be in wine or vmware, or something similar?
if i could just get that ONE program to run in linux i could get rid of windows altogether.

PS: Everquest? I pitty you. Used up only 9 days of my free month be for giving the game away. Good players, horid world and game play (MPOV of course).
