Hey,
I can't get my Red Hat syste onto the internet! I just contacted my isp and they said I need to use DHCP and he couldn't give me any information (gateway, subnet mask, DNS) other than my computer name. How do I set up my network configuration for a dynamic system like this???
Thanks!

Do you have a Win9x,ME,2000 system there that is hooked up to the same isp?
If so, then run winipcfg from Start/Run and there you will find the info that's required. Also click on 'more info' to get the dns servers.
Is that all you need, or do you require help in getting it all setup once you've acquired all the ip addresses?

THanks...
I already had my IP, and DNS servers from my win 2K setup (on the same machine). I tried using those same settings, but it wasn't working, so I called my isp, and they told me I had to use DHCP, and that they couldn't tell me the gateway, DNS, netmask, or even my IP, but that is rediculous, because I have this invoice from them that said all those settings (for another IP, then we got another one online, and that's what I'm using). GRRR..
SO I guess I need to know how to set up DHCP on my Red Hat system, because using the settings i got from that invoice, and from my 2K OS don't work :(
Thanks for your help!

Most DHCP servers also give you dns and gateway info when you recieve your IP
