Quake 3 only runs with if logged in as root!

If I'm my normal user, I get a sig 11. But It runs fine as root! Help me plz!

Do you have 3d acceleration working for a normal user?

Post your distro, verison of X, and video card and we can get ya going...

Do you happen to have 3dfx accelerator or video card? More details would be welcome,if you do then head on to linux.3dfx.com and get the dev-3dfx package,install...after install is finished you should have /dev/3dfx which will let any user access the hardware thus enable you to play your games without being root..Hope this helps.

It sounds like you are running XFree86 4.

There needs to be a line added that allows normal users to run 3D. Unfortunately I can't remeber the line. Hopefully someone else will remember it.

Here's my stuff:

I'm using Slack 7.1 but u almost couldn't tell. I installed X myself, along with everything else. I'm running X4.0.1 and have an Nvidia Riva TnT card. The drivers are working since it runs quite well as root. What's that line damn it?!?!?!
