#1. Paying for linux games supports the movment
#2. You are a complete idiot for buying the windows version if you intended to play it in linux
#3. I have a copy of the game, and so do several other forum members. It may be winter, but hell would freeze over before any of us gave you a copy. Go hang out on #wannabiehax0r and share your intelligent thoughts there

I would whinge about the video drivers before I whinge about the lack of games.

They try to do that because it will define a market share. "Who really uses Linux for games?" The problem is that we've come to expect Linux binaries online and Windows install disks but that means that sales numbers aren't accurate.

Wait a bit maybe.

Actually, the fskin publisher (not loki) decided that they wanted the two versions to use different data file formats... so no just adding binaries a la Q3.

Be a man, suck it up, and pay for the linux version.

On a side note, get the newest CVS release of wine if you guys like games. I got Warcraft II running, notepad.exe and a whole bunch of other programs. Very close to having halflife running also.

You buy windows and then run games and apps which are meant for windows under linux. Are you a complete idiot?

Doom II, Quake, QuakeWorld, Quake2, Quake3, most of the mods for the Quake series, Kingpin, UT, and all the ones that Loki is doing.

Heck... the pre-alpha beta of the demo test was released for Linux before Win32...

#1. Uncalled for flames are the spice of life

#2. I was actually trying to help in my wine post, saying that if he has the windows copy and cant get it to work at all, try and run wine, as I have had previous success. Geez get ripped up for actually trying to help the guy.. bah http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif

dang I'm just impressed and glad that I sparked this type of feeling in the penguin ppl :-) I bought the windows version game when it was publicly expressed that they would just make some rpms for the game, not that they would create an entirely retail for linux let alone the gold edition for SOF. I had to buy it in NY too, they must have a law against ppl buying Mature games. I really had to dig for the kingpin game as well.
by the by.. I did buy all three quakes in only linux format :-0 I found the crack online for the quake demo cd years ago.

Always buy from the platform you are supporting. The SOF for Linux has been publicized for a while. You should have know to wait. Shame on you. Next time check the Loki Games web site first.

Coolness, you got Warcraft II working under WINE. I have been using the Linux clone of it for awhile now. (Freecraft I think?)

As for Linux versions vs. Win version, I personally prefer to get Linux versions if I can. Using WINE doesn't make you an evil unsupporter. Especially when the game will probably never come to Linux in the first place.

SoF is pretty cool, and it does have online support. Why not get the demo from loki?

sensi- this game is very life like. hostage situations, sniping etc. but not like rainbow 6 or swat which w/ insane stratagies. U can shoot guns out of ppl's hands, nut shots, head, torso, leg shots etc. it is very fun to play single player. never played it multi though

Hmmmm I guess he didn't know, but hey man rememeber to go to Tux games and Loki for all you gamin' needs dude. Support Linux and turn you head when it comes to Windows. I been doing it for sometime now. I did buy Sim City 3000 tho for Linux and the last game I got for Windows was Quake 3(go figure)... I figure I have no need to hit up some Warez site for the Windoze verison when I support Linux now. =P

As for everyone at that posted plz don't be so hard on people. C'mon can't you just feel that love?

I agree with all of the talk of support linux for games and stuff, but I think that every single person that has posted in this forum with an insulting thing to say to the poor guy that got suckered into getting the Windoze version because he didn't know about the linux version has a big problem. It doesn't seem to me that insults and calling people "idiots" has any place on a message board like this. I just hope you realize how childish you really are. :D

My SoF just came in the mail. I ordered it from ebworld for $15 after shipping. That's far cheaper than you can find the windows version for.

nathaniel

when I the game, I checked loki and there wasn't even consideration fo porting this game.

Can't beat this (http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/categories/products/product.asp?pf_id=181434&mscssid=&ref=1&PromoCode=) with a stick. This $10 is a small price to pay make companies realize there is a market for linux 3d games.
