Why is every other post in this section a general bicthing session..

Why won't anyone port CS? , Why doesn't Unreal Tournament run? etc...

Why don't we think like the constructive person we really are, and settle on a project. Like making our own CS clone, Linux only. Developed by linux hackers. Now wouldn't this by cool..

I really lack a project like this, mainly because Im sick of having MS installed just to play games. I would like a desend lanable game like CS on linux... And wouldn't it be cool to have MS idiots beg us to port our cool game for a change ???

An insane idea, but true genius comes from insanity.

I know that is i praticely impossible do this, manily because 'most' people develop software on linux in their spare time, and if a project of this size would ever amount to some.. someone eventuelly will want to be paid..

Well my fine furry friend... #1. Unreal Tourament does run (great I may add), atleast in mandrake 7.2. #2. Quake 3 runs even better than UT.. #3. CS would be easy to port over, its the half-life part of it that is a ***** http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif (To much directx, not enough OpenGL). To be honest, halflife is one of the ****test engines, graphically, on the market today. But it is the funnest engine, making it very popular. Unforunately I dont think it is very easily ported to other platforms. But hey, I know a bit of C, just nothing to do with graphics. I assume if we all got together and made a game, it would take us about 2 years in total..

Or, start with a simple mod for q3. Free, easy, lots of different skills required...

We could call it the "lnodistro mod", and it would die in 3 weeks. Twice.

Well then again, logically.. we do not re-invent the wheel for each different car manufacturer.. the manufacturer adapts its designs to use existing circle tires..
