grab the installer here (http://www.activision.com/games/wolfenstein/downloads/files.html) and follow this file INSTALL (http://zerowing.idsoftware.com/linux/wolf/INSTALL)

theres also a FAQ at http://zerowing.idsoftware.com/linux/wolf/

or if you want simplicity and want to help tuxgames.com. You can buy their RtCW Installer for $5
http://www.tuxgames.com/details.cgi?gameref=85&id=182902&nc=1023303049

TuxGames's Return To Castle Wolfenstein installer

TuxGames provides an installer for Return To Castle Wolfenstein. Please note that this is not endorsed by Id software, and it is not required for installing Return To Castle Wolfenstein on Linux. The installer is intended to make the installation easier by going through the steps described in the INSTALL file for you.

Actually, I could never get TuxGames's RTCW installer to work. I can't help you if you can't make it run, but I got some feedback about it otherwise:
It looks like the installer uses symlinks in your ~/.wolf directory to install the files. This is likely to break when you update to a new version of RTCW through Id's official setups. You have been warned.

sounds like a waste of money :p

Not really. Consider that they report all sales of the installer, Win32 cds, etc. to id software as "Linux sales" - they are trying to show that there is a market for Linux games. If they can show enough of the right kinds of numbers to the guys in ties, it will help for future releases of games to have Linux ports.

But Id already ports everything they make...

At least, they've ported everything that I know of.

id doesn't really 'port' their products...they make the versions for other OS's at the same time, a port is usually taking an existing game and re-coding it to the other platform. id makes their games virtuly cross-platform while writing the orginal code and only makes seperate installers for each platform, but the game is still running the same code

...if that made ANY since...

Yes. After you copy the pk3 files from the CD, you won't even need the CD anymore to play it.

Yeah, OK, that makes sense.

Perhaps "ports" was the wrong word... I meant "makes other versions of ... for different OS'es", just like you were saying.
