Let's get Diablo 2 working!

Okay, well I've gotten a windows looking error message, but I'm in no way a wine expert so I have no way of figuring out what it means. :-\

What's the message? My brother has experimented a bit with stuff that will NOT work and may have a recommendation. Oh, I should get a copy of Diablo II after X-mas and let him have a go at getting it to work, he's got a lot more spare time than I. Who knows, in the end a small effort like this might end up helping to improve Wine. Keep trying and let me know how it goes.

I cant seem to get wine to even work with Starcraft (The newer versions actually seem to be less compatible.. ?) They are actually releasing a new version of wine pretty soon here (as seen on slashdot), but I wouldnt count on miracles. Part of the problem is DirectX...

Yeah, I really wish game companies would stick with OpenGL. Once you give into Microsofts proprietary standards they own you.

I've also contemplated vmware, but it doesn't like using my LS120 as the floppy device...

I came across the same problem in VMWare. I have both LS-120 and floppy now. I don't know that VMWare will run Diablo II that well, if at all, because I don't think it has very good DirectX support yet.

Well, the other thing that would be problematic, at least in my machine, is D2 wanting 96MB of ram to run well. using vmware, only 64 would be available, and it's a dog with 64 meg.
