Hi,

Any one know of a program that can convert staroffice files (like a spreadsheet) to excel of Koffice file formats? I have a spreadsheet I want to open up, but I do not have staroffice intalled? I know there are programs like gif2png, so I thought there might me one like this.

Thanks,

Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire the A-Team.

No this doesn't exist yet. The next version of star office is open source and file converters will become available with time but for now the only way is to open them in Star Office and save them in a different format or cut and paste them from Star Office in to your application.

I have not used Star office much myself. Can i save a star office file (while in the program) to on MS office file? If not, is there an MS office equivalant for linux?

I have used Star Office to open WordPerfect files. No problem there. Does this help?

I was a terribly disappointed Star Office cannot open Quarttro Pro files. Then again, I am reminded by someone's comment that waiting for SO to load is like watching paint dry.

Somewhat... Thank you. I am really concerned with it's ability to open an MS office file and to save back into that format. I am about to change my main file server over to linux. however, if I am not able to have some of the features of MS office in linux I may be up a creak 9since I use MS office so oftern on that machine. Thank you though.

Yes Star Office can read and save Microsoft Office files with more success than any other program. That doesn't mean the conversion is perfect though. There will be some bugs in the conversion, but for most things it is more than adequate to save MS office format files.
