(http://www.jamsession.co.uk/screenshots/cs.jpg) - Just need to get sound working now :(</STRONG> Hey! Good for you!! But what resolution are you running it at? You might wanna run it as the same resoultion as your desktop, so its full screen. Or put 640x480 or 800x600 (or both) in your XF86config file. As for the sound, well... I have the same problem with DOD, but not CS or HL. I was fiddling around, and found that I could get the sound to work if I started the game from the console. What I mean by this is, when you first start CS, and you have the config, multiplayer, quit, etc etc (the first main screen) click on "console" (if you enabled it with -console at the command line) and it brings up the console, full screen. Type in something like map cs_assault and it will start WITH SOUND! YAY! But starting it that way does so without networking (as a host). So, theoritcally, you can join games that way (connect 192.168.0.16 for example) and maybe start a host by passing through some parameters. I havmt looked into it, but maybe if you create a script to run is CS, and exec it in the console complete with networking support, it just may work. Clumsy, I know... but it seems to (theoritcally) work. Any questions, I might be able to help :D I got CS, HL, and somewhat DOD working in Slack. TTFN, ScRapZ_1 :p </STRONG> I'm only running it at this resolution just to prove to my friends that it's running in linux. I can switch to full screen if I want. I've got the console enabled so I'll try your suggestion about starting a game from the console. What's also odd is, I upgraded Tribes2 on the weekend and now the sound doesn't work with that either even though I can still play mp3's, cd's etc. :( ScRapZ_1 03-04-2002, 10:49 AM Hmmm... me thinks it may be time to upgrade to latest version of sound drivers. You may have already done this but I havnt, I just used the emu10k1 module that came with Slack. So it could be that. I have no idea, but it is VERY frustrating. I lost servral layers of scalp figuring that console thing out. Note: I didnt have problems like this with RedHat, so maybe its time to compare the two and try to "bridge the gap". I'm really out of options :( Its always good to show that kinda stuff off to friends. Its always good to see their faces when you run a game in linux. Kinda pops the bubble when theres no sound  EDIT: I just thought, maybe if you up the sound in the console it might work. Maybe by default it turns the volume down to very low. I'm going to try that now, since I'm having problems with sound (volume) in other stuff. NOW I'm outta options :D TTFN, ScRapZ_1 :p [ 04 March 2002: Message edited by: ScRapZ_1 ] z0mbix 03-04-2002, 10:56 AM Somebody here told me to use alsa drivers instead, so I might give that a try. Also, I though winex is supposed to support directx. Do I have to implement that or is that ready to run when you run winex? I can't seem to get any directx games working. I've tried Settlers and Monopoly Tycoon so far. ScRapZ_1 03-04-2002, 11:02 AM I found that directx is all done for me in winex... I've never had a problem. Keeping in mind that directx is kinda still in development. Some games will work nicley, some games wont. Have you had a look at the success games section at Transgaming? But yeah, the answer to your question is, yes, directx is done for you when you compile :D TTFN, ScRapZ_1 :p ScRapZ_1 03-04-2002, 11:20 AM Pfft... I just tried that volume in the game console thingy... nothing. I really have no clue what to do now. I'm sure though that its going to bug me until I finally get up at 3am and exclaim EUREKA and fix it. But until then I'm stumped :( TTFN, ScRapZ_1 :p justlinux.com
