LAN Tank or Battleship game?

I am looking for a (non-gory) LAN game I can run on my home network. Something in a Tank or Battleship theme would be great. Would also need to be able to run it under both Linux (my machine) and Windows 98SE (my wife's and daughter's machines).

Any ideas?

Scorched Earth is/was a blast, but you could always use a quake/quake2 mod - AirQuake is fantastic for LAN play, and if paintball violence is ok, there is always the paintball mods for q2 and q3.
