On the idsoftware ftp server it says full download for Quake 2. But on the website it tells you how to get the "Full Shareware" version. Which is it, full or shareware?

They may have the full update to the binaries, but you still need the original data files (pak*.pak) from the cd.

Just like the Quake1 open source release: the code is there, but the datafiles are still copyright protected.
