I just get disconnected when I dial up to my ISP, it says pppt error 16, which is modem hangs up...., I tried going into mandrake control panel and it said the problem was that two pppt's were running and told me to delete a file in my /root/.kde/share/pppt/ directory and to kill one of the processes but that doesnt appear to work either... I still cant get on and when i reset all is back and pppt is running twice...

Ive been plagued with problems this week, It used to work although recently howeverI reformatted and reinstalled mandrake 8 and it simply hasnt worked since, the modem log says nothing really

says connected, starting pppt, disconnected.... and a dialog box flashes up.

Id be really grateful if somebody could help me out.. thanks

What interface are you using to dial your ISP; kppp, gppp wvdial? Do you hear the modems handshaking? Have you tried dialing the number with a phone to make sure there's a modem on the other end. Have you tried using a terminal program like minicom to dial the connection? Don't you really mean pppd instead of pppt?
