Mini-Dist Question

My little sister got a hold of an older Mac Laptop without an OS (I think ...) and no CD ROM. Is there a mini-distribution for mac? What other things could I do to try to find out more than juts the little flashing question mark on a disk on the screen? :-P. Thanks!

Look into Linux PPC. I think there is a version that can be loaded by floppy.
