I heard there is new mandrake 8.1 came out ... is there any way to upgrade my current linux without loosing all my files and preferable configurations ?

i would think mandrake should do this without a problem, redhat does and teh two are similar.

Unless you want lots of stuff to not work you should wait until it's out of beta.

If you poke around in the developer areas you might glean some info on when a release might be slated. ='D Mailing lists are nice, too. You signed up with the Mandrake Community Newsletter?
