just inherited a bunch of stuff. haven't sorted through all of this yet, but it includes:

486dx2 with mobo and cpu fan

pentium 100 with mobo (no cpu fan though)

several pairs of 72 pin ram (setting up an old box to figure out what's what)

some motley funky isa cards (the ones that are extra long, they fit on the 486 board) including a controller card (hd, fd, and ports) and a vid card of some sort.

2 3.5 inch floppy drives, one of which is current attached to...

...a 5.25" thingie for mounting a 3.5 inch floppy drive

as many as 3 4x CD-ROMS (though i want to test thoughs before selling them.

and some random isa and pci port cards and modems.

dunno what works and what doesn't. i'm gonna check the RAM tonight, and then prolly busy myself cannibalising some of the better stuff to build a box outta (233mhz amd k-6 and a diamond 64 vid card with 8 megs of vram! ooooOOoo. it'll keep me busy while i'm buying my REAL new box...), but if anyone is dying for any of this stuff, post now, and i'll let ya have first dibs.

If you've got a 56k modem card in there, I'll take it (non-winmodem please :) ).

i dunno the difference by eye between a winmodem and a not winmodem. i don't think any of them have jumpers though, not a good sign.

i'm going to try and identify as much stuff as i can by the end of the week, and then i'll prolly start a new thread with the actual names of stuff and all that junk.

if any of the modems turn out to be worth anything, i'll let you know of course.

How much for the p100 w/ mobo and ram and maybe a 3.5 and a 4x cdrom? Maybe you could quote prices both separate and then all together.

I might be interested if the price is right, I like collecting computer parts.

i already got wurmy (sp?) who wants the socket 7 mobo in another thread (....... here (http://www.linuxnewbie.org/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=16&t=000742)) asking for the board plus maybe some other parts. i'll try and start piecing together pricing for everything else, but i'm gonna see what he wants before posting an updated list w/prices.

the pentium chip will still be up for grabs with gobs of other junk. i'm also gonna sell the k6 chip. hell, i've got enough stuff to build a barebones 486dx system. i think i'm even going to inherit cabling for it before the week is over.

i listed the modems i've got in the post i linked to above. if you want one of them, it's yours.

Well... I don't know if the ModemBlaster works with Linux . Is it a given that because it's ISA, it's probably not a Winmodem? I need to do somemore research. If it's not a winmodem, then that's the one I want.

I also don't know if, just because it has no jumpers that it's a winmodem. I just saw a US Robotics PCI modem that said it worked with Linux right on the box, but that was a brand new unit. I'll check it out ;).

knock yourself out. i saw one page that someone posted what resources it used when they booted it up with their windows machine, but that prolly doesn't mean squat.

i know linux has a isapnp thingie for configuring stuff like that, but i don't know much about it.

If you find a network card in there I'll probably take it.

As long as it fits my wallet ;)

If you happen to have an extra 56k nonwinmodem hanging around I'll take one!
