LNO homepage took over 1m 30s to load on dsl connection!

Sensei,

Can we maybe skip the 'load images first' part of the code of the homepage? I'm not positive, but I believe that's why it's been taking so long for my browser to load it up! Especially at work where all I have is IE. I'm using IE right now, and it took a LONG time to load. It doesn't take as long in NN, which is nice for me, but I think a lot (though maybe not most, I dunno) of the poeple who are newbies are likely to be using IE.

Just a thought, 'cos I got annoyed enough to time it today... 1:38 on a dsl connection. Went to dslreports to test my speed in IE - gettin' "at least 11 times faster than 56K modem". Second test said I got about 80K download.

I've noticed the pages (all, not just main) are taking quite a while to load, too.

DSL & Netscape 4.76 here, btw.

How's this for a shot in the dark: high latency ad servers? I've noticed that the ads are consistently the _last_ things to be loaded when browsing.

I'd vote to blame the adservers for the slow load times as well, I noticed it on another site today (okay okay, keenspot.com).

Upgraded the bbs. There were some performance issues with it.

LNO is a high traffic bbs and it was causing probs on the server me thinks.

See if it does it now.
