I see a lot of problems with Mandrake users upgrading to the 2.4 kernel. You are all making it way too hard on yourselves. Open up Mandrake Update, point it at the Cooker site, select the 2.4 kernel and headers, then push the Update Now button. Doesn't get much harder than that does it??? Many distro's have come up with their own packages that are custom compiled for their distro, use them if your not sure what your doing. The frustration you will save will be your own!

Yeh with the new mandrake updater its as easy as using apt.
Why haven't they released 2.4 to the stable non-developmnt area yet though?

Probably because it is not a security update. I would imagine that we will see a beta release reall soon.
On a side note I was a crazy fool this weekend and upgraded to every cooker package but the kernel packages. So far everything but kde seems to work though I had to disable XFS to get dri working.

Maybe 'cos it's Redhat based? maybe that has nothing to do with it, but I do know Redhat hasn't released an .rpm for the 2.4 because they're 'still testing' it. Meanwhile, they sold it as being '2.4 kernel ready'... bastards.
I'm almost ready to sell my stock - except I think their earnings will be good.
