It's looking like there's a bit of hostility brewing over some of the posts from the newer users that don't seem to be utilizing their manual/ how-to pages and the search features on this site.
I thought an appeal to the webmaster to indicate these tools on the registration page was in order. Maybe something along the lines of; Before posting, and to avoid riling the natives, be sure to check your How-to's in (list of directories per distro), try $man <topic> and search the Newbie Help Files [NHF's] on this site! You can also search the forums, your question may already been asked and answered!
I've learned alot from this site, reading thru all the posts. But when i see a topic that looks interesting and open the thread, only to find the guy getting raked over the coals for not RTFM, i get to wondering how many others are reading it and getting discouraged about posting their own.
I know it must be frustrating, seeing a new question that was answered yesterday. So how bout nip it in the bud, before it has a chance to happen. Maybe alot of those guys aren't even aware of the how-to's. I know i didn't know what 'man' was right away.
Just like to see this site stay 'friendly'.
This IS linuxNEWBIE, eh?
