I'mm not sure of UBB (or other BB's) support this, but I think it would improve the quality of posting if one would gain a designation of Troll or Loser if too many comments are posted in the Off Topic or Rants Forum. Also if one posts a lot of topics in Some Forums like Technical Support or General Linux Qustions they would get a designation Newbie. If one were to reply to many topics then one might get a designation of Guru.
The last one would be that Moderator or maybe just Admins could tack on Flamer to certain deserving people.
Just a thought.

This has been brought up a lot before, but it is still good. Though, I think the problem is that the titles aren't based on things as specific as posts in a specific forum, or distinguishing between posts and replies. It would be nice, but as far as I know, the UBB software isn't quite up to that. (Sensei, would you care to enlighten us as to the limitations of UBB?
However, we really do need some other titles that what we have now, 45 posts isn't really that much.
Definitely stay w/ the whole japanese theme, maybe move up to samurai, ninja, shogun, etc... And instead of HAL - Hitokiri http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/biggrin.gif (Kenshin, anyone?)
wmHardRock: That's actually a really good idea, special descriptors for people who have made important contributions to the LNO community (be it good or bad) They would have to be special, as they would require Sensei to do them manualy. I have seen people over at Ars with their own titles, it is pretty cool.

Its possible. Its manual work and it can get flaky and run risking the troubling the board. But it is VERY VERY possible.
However, I'm waiting for a system that makes it easier for people to be given a name like on Ars board. Their bbs is now Open Topic though a totally different bbs system from the same co. that makes UBB.
That system is server based and is hosted at infopop. I think Open Topic is still being worked on though. I'm definitely looking for another solution to the UBB. Its been great, but I want something better.
