Arrrgh! kde.tdyc.com is down. Does anyone have any mirrors? I really want my KDE2 (besides, I'm installing it on someone else's system too).

Get apt pointed to unstable. KDE is included in unstable. One way is to do this. Comment out your existing lines in /etc/apt/sources.list and add this line:

deb ftp://ftp.eecs.umich.edu/debian unstable main contrib non-free

apt-get update
apt-get install task-kde

If you want to add KDE's office suite:

apt-get install koffice-common

Available unstable packages can be found here:
http://packages.debian.org/unstable/

After installing what you want from unstable, comment out the line with unstable in it (the one we just added) and remove the comments from original lines, in your /etc/apt/sources.list. Then:

apt-get clean
apt-get update

You now have KDE with Koffice and apt is now pointed back to where we started.

Hope this helps,

Regards,
Rod

Actually, I was hoping someone had the KDE mirrors, but I guess this is alright. I really don't feel like breaking my system though.

I use a Wisconsin mirror in Madison for my normal Debian stuff that's really nice.

Hey! Me too! I'm right in town -- live by Eureka Joes on Monroe St... err, now it's Ancora but hey, the UW mirror isn't too bad. Just finished installing KDE2 tonight using that mirror.
Working good so far -- posting this from Konqueror!
