I have Mandrake 7.1 and I would like to know which file do I enter the IP address of my proxy server to gain access to the Internet?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

If you're talking about a web proxy, you configure that in your web browser. Edit -> Preferences -> Advanced -> Proxies. If you're behind a SOCKS proxy rather than having a real Internet connection, then just like in Windows you have to configure all your networking apps to go through the proxy. There's some file you can edit to set proxy settings for basic utilities like pinging, but I don't remember what it is. justlinux.com
