Can anyone tell me any site where I can download a version of Linux? I understand that this OS is free. Any answer is welcome
Thanks

Yes it is. Pick which distribution you want, visit the website and you'll find a link to their FTP to download it. In the case of redhat all that's required is to go to www.redhat.com (http://www.redhat.com) and clicking on the "Download" link.

It'll take you quite a while unless you're on a fast internet link though! A while would be leaving the modem online for at least 48 hours if you wanted to download everything you might need. I chose the option to download a CD image and then I burnt that to CD, now I have linux on CD. If you don't have a burner you should be able to pick up linux cheaply (DON'T bother buying an expensive redhat version, look around for somebody selling it cheaply). There's a good chance that buying a CD from somebody selling it at the right price will be a hellava lot easier than trying to download linux via ftp.

You CAN download it for free but like Geoff said, it is a bit of a pain. I would highly recommend getting a cheap distribution. If you are interrested in this, try:
