I hope I'm posting to the right forum; please excuse me if it's not the right one.
I'm running Red Hat 7 with Tomcat 3.2.1 binary RPMs installed. When RH boots, it starts Tomcat right after Apache, but there is no process showing for Tomcat when I open up the System Monitor.
I can shut the server down and restart it successfully; however when I try to view the Tomcat examples page in Netscape on the default port 8080, it refuses the connection. I followed the install directions as close as I could, including setting the TOMCAT_HOME and JAVA_HOME environment variables, and making sure the Java interpreter (JVM, I think) was in the PATH.
Would anyone having any experience with this setup tell me what I need to do to get this server up and running? I subscribed to the Tomcat mailing list but that just seems to be more trouble than its worth ... you get about 300 emails a day about stuff that you really don't care about. All I need is a little point in the right direction and will appreciate any help with getting Tomcat up and running quickly...
thx,
