Hey guys, which files for KDE do I "need" to upgrade for KDE 2.1 to 2.2.

I read the README but it simply says, "download the files you need..etc" but doesnt list them.

I assume I need kdebase stuff, and most likely the admin stuff etc.

Or will the Mandrake Package manager upgrade it for me if I use the Mandrake update tool?

Just follow the links to your distro as I did for mine.

Either download and install the source or the rpms. Everything is in directories for what you need.

The install docs should be enough to get you going.

Note: There is no kdesupport anymore.

I decided to go for it, here's my experience.I'm using Mandrake 8.
I downloaded all the rpms in this directory except the static files. You wouldn't need the devel files either if you don't plan on compiling anything from source. http://master.kde.org/pub/kde/stable/2.2/Mandrake/8.0/i586/
I typed "urpmi *rpm" and it *****ed about 4 deps and one of them was definitely a file it was supposed to be installing so I told it to ignore the deps but I took note of them. Then it complained about efax so I just removed it since I don't use it anyways. Then it installed everything. I fired up X, kde *****ed about there being no mime types but it loaded up fine. Other then there being no mime types loaded in, everything worked fine. I shutdown X and restarted, this time it loaded in the mime types fine, a few were screwed up like now it's trying to play mp3's with "netscape plugger" but that's easy enough to fix. So everything went quite well I guess, I can't find anything that's not working. Everything is better and faster and now I can turn off those damn gif animations in Konqueror although they don't seem to bog down this system nearly as much as they did before.

Thanks KDE guys! :)

The pcre deps I ignored can be obtained here:
ftp://ftp.csx.cam.ac.uk/pub/software/programming/pcre

After a few more days of using kde2.2 I found my javascript wasn't working, at all. I went and installed pcre and reinstalled kdelibs, now it is. Not sure which fixed it. pcre was the only dep I ignored.
