i just put in a 5gb secondary hdd in my system. all it had on it previously were mp3s. there was no OS (therefor no MBR) on the hdd before i put it in my system. i have a red hat 6.2 cd that came with the Using RedHat Linux book. i went thru the installation and it went fine. created a linux boot disk. went to boot up and my screen started scrolling with 01's. then booting to the boot disk a virus program built into my mb detected a boot sector virus. i wrote zero's to the hdd and then formatted it as well. the same thing is still happening....how can i get rid of this and where is it coming from? i used 2 different floppies to make the boot disk...could it be on the cd???

please help

But in a boot disk then type:

format /mbr

and it will format the mbr.

also make sure your virus protection in bios is DISABLED as it will see liunx as a virus
