Tonight after work I'm taking my "Sun Certified Java 2 Programmer Exam". Initially I was opposed to this when my boss made this a requirement, but a few months into studying for it, I've really learned a lot of obscure language details that I might not have ever known otherwise.
It's also important that I pass else I don't get reimbursed for my $150.00 =(
Wish me luck.

I wish you Skill.
Ya know nanode, I'm not Java Certified. So let us know what you think of the test tomorrow. I realize you won't know your test results for a while, but I'd be interested to hear what your impressions of the test were.
I guess when you get your certification you'll be more qualified than I am
I guess I can no longer say "I taught him everything he knows" any more. (Actually, I haven't been able to say that for nearly two years)
Best of luck buddy. You'll do great.

I've taken a Sun test before. If the java test is structured like the SCSA test my advice is to make sure you read the questions very well and take your time. You'll do fine.
I'm taking Oracle's intro to SQL PL/SQL thursday, so I know how you feel.

I was told I'll know my results immediately after completing the test. The actual certificate takes some time to arrive.
People at work are all asking me if I'm nervous. That'll make you nervous if you weren't already =^)
All:
Thanks for the encouragement.

Yea as soon as you finnish it pops up a screen with your score and and the passing score on a little bar graph and tells you how you did. You'll get a print out that will detail how many questons you had in each section and how many you got right from that section.
When you get to the testing center they will as you for two forms of ID. They will give you two pieces of paper and two pencils and take you to a computer where you'll take the test and leave you be. All you do is put in your prometric ID number (SSN most of the time) and start the test.
It takes up to 4 business days for Sun to update you certification page. I guess a week or so after that to get you stuff mailed.

I took this test about June 1998, that makes me more qualified than you ;) I probably don't remember most of it anymore though. About a month or so before that I knew no Java at all, so it wasn't that difficult. I just read a couple of books, and Java in a Nutshell was a good summary as it had all the definitions of how big an int is, what it's range, most of the little details of the language, also read "The Java Programming Language".

OK. I am very surprised - I passed, by 1%
I might not be the greatest java quiz taker, but I'm good enough... :D

AWESOME! :D
I'm really happy for you nanode. You may have just inspired me to go get certified myself.
Good job!

Thanks for the congrats. A coworker just took the test last night and failed by 2%.
That'd really suck to fail by such a close score.
