Hi. I just upgrade my current version of netscape to 6.0. When i try to download something, I wouldn't let me save it to my harddrive? Please help me.

If you click on a download link, it should pop up a box that asks if you want to save it to disk, then another that asks you where to save it. I'm not sure about netscape 6, but the older versions would sometimes require you to hold down shift at the same time you clicked on a link if you wanted to save.

That's the best I can do, sorry.

I *think* this is actually a bug in Netscape 6 itself, as I had the same problem on my Debian box here at the house & my Windows box at work.

My suggestion... if you really need to download something, use Mozilla, Opera, Netscape 4.x or even Konqueror.

I know it is not what you want to hear, but try Mozilla 0.6, much better than Netscape 6.

However, I did read over at http://www.mozilla.org something about the next release of Netscape 6, so maybe the will fix a slew of the bugs that it is infested with. (Shame, too, I like Netscape 6...)

This message posted with Konqueror... http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

I have not been able to get Netscape 6 to work in Linux OR Windoze. http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/frown.gif

It seems to install OK, but it refuses to run.

I emailed Netscape's tech support but they never emailed me back with an answer.

Anyone know anything about this in general?

Question: Do you have or did you have a previous version of Netscape 6 or Mozilla installed ?

I had this problem once as well, in Windows I had to delete the registry file for Netscape/Mozilla, in Linux I removed the ~/.mozilla directory and then it worked. http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif
