Installed Debian last weekend. wanted to test apt-get. Copied Craig McPherson's "obese" sources list and xemac'd it into my /etc/apt/sources.list file.
Then I tried apt-get update:
It went through a good number of the sites then poasted these errors:
Reading Package lists...Error!
E: Dynamic mmap ran out of room.
E: Error occured while processing mc (new version2).
E: Problem with mergelist /var/state/apt.lists/ftp.eecs.umich.edu_debian_lists_unstable_main_bina ry-i386_Packages
E: msync
E: The Packages or status file could not be parsed or opened.

Could someone tell me what's going on with this and how to correct it?
I would really appreciate the help.
Thanks,

Since apt-get is new to you I would recommend using the default sources.list file.
Uncomment the first http debian entry.
This is a great to try apt-get.

Craig's list is exactly that a monster. Work your way up, it has some great stuff in there.
I personally think the ftp umich site is fastest for a high speed connection.
Always have a copy both soft and hard of Craig's list.

The debian default entry can be changed to woody merely by changing stable to unstable.

apt-get is a good thing.

Does that mean I'm getting the error messages because the list is too long?
