and doing it right to, not just ad hoc crap i was doing for the navy. work breakdown structures and CMM management and lots and lots of design.

and we'll even sell the bloody thing when we're done with it. (my job doesn't depend on making a profit offa this, part of the point of the project is to get CMM experience for bids on contracts).

whoo fricking hoo man!

Qool! It sounds like you're pretty excited about it! I have a feeling after the experience, it will change the way that you do personal projects, as well. (^=

ya know, i've gotten more and more to the point where i really don't do any personal stuff. all the stuff i worked on last year was related (if loosely) to work... i'm kinda getting to the point where computer play is work (fun work, mind you), and i just have other stuff to do at home.

of course, if i get around to getting a new computer, i'm sure that will change completely.

It seems that my personal and work stuff mesh together.. at work, they don't have a strict regiment that I must adhere to.. as long as my other work gets done, they pretty much let me do what I like in the offtimes... so, I spend it learning stuff.. like perl.. java.. (^=

I actually have a very large project idea for my work, but I don't know if they'll go for it. It will prolly take me a few months of everyday work to get it working.. I just need to make the proposal, and present it to my bosses.. dunno if it will fly though. They are kinda set on a few things (software they use), and I'd have to make something really worthwhile for them to want to invest in.. (^=

So, how are you liking the job so far? You've already started right? How goes the perl stuff? You and I used to chat all the time about perl.. but since ccae started, I've been distant.. ::sigh::

Oh well... (^=

haven't really touched perl 'cept answering a question here or there. i still kinda think in perl when i'm thinking of code, but i'm not sure when i'll be doing perl again. it's looking like i'll be doing some C++ soon though. but even when we do the web stuff we're gonna do, it'll more than likely be in php.
