problem to log my linux

Hi amigo
j have a big troule when j start my linux system and that the system load all the services if j type "root" and valide, the system don't response otherwise only a carrier return is done.Te prompt for yhe password don't appear at all.That's why j cannot enter my password to administrate the system(red hat 6)
please help me it's bothering

Uhm, you're not supposed to see stars (*) or anything when you type in your password. Simply type it in and press enter. Also is your "I" key broken? Why did you use "j" instead of "i"? It's kinda hard to read http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/wink.gif

no j know you are telling me about echo , that's not the problem.
listen to me , before typing a password you wanna have a prompt with demand it like
password: or psw ...
but this prompt dosn't appear because the login that j have enter (root) is not process.

it's crazy !

Perhaps enter 'login' or 'logon' first.

Also when posting, and as mentioned by Muzzafarath, use 'I' instead of 'j'. I means yourself, and j is incorrect. Makes it a little easier for all to read.
