no gnome ?? :(

i just installed linux , and again the gnome doesnt work , i tried to boot into it and it said loading failed , is there a way to fix this ? it has happened on all my installs ( which werent that many)

i wouldnt care , but it seems gnome has more goodies i want like x-chat and xmms that i either cant find in kde or just dont come with it , anyone care to help???

what distro are you using?

xchat and xmms are, afaik, not gnome dependent but i could be wrong
