Friend Needs help...

...well my friend installed Linux Mandrake 8.0, but the problem is that he cant access the net...i said he has to get the DNS, Gateway, Ip, etc...info...but he doesnt know where to get it, neither do i as i was given that info from my @Home service...

...he too has @Home, but needs that info to have Mandrake 8.0 acess the net, sorry if this is in the wrong forum, and thanks for all your help...

Is he by chance dual booting to windows also? if so, he can pull up the information using winipcfg. If not, then he needs to call and get the information from the service rep(good luck) or find the receipts that they gave him that usually includes ip and hostname.

Set the nic to use dhcp. @home uses dhcp to asign ip's.

Doesn't work 100% of the time with @home, but yeah try dhcp first. Although he more than likely has a static IP and to be honest, I like my stuff put in there, no delay on initializing eth0.
