hi all..thx for taking time to read this
i have 4.62 gb's free HD space..is this enough to install Mandrake 7.2, and still be able to run both Windows98 and Mandrake?
how will i go about making it so that when i turn on my Computer, i get the option of Mandrake or Windows to boot up? is it all in the installation? or anything extra i have to do?
thanks all...i'm a newbie at linux...i tried redhat long ago and it totally messed up my computer..in fact i had to do quickrestore..hehe..
anyway, please help..thx in advance..

Yeah that is enough room! When I first got into linux I duel booted on a 2 gig (very tight but I did it ... somehow). Just make sure you partition your hard drive up with a section for linux. Also, the choose upon boot is an option done by default in the install. It's lilo or grub (depending on the dist.) Have fun!

You should have no problem at all. If you bought drake 7.2 them partition magic and boot magic came as part of the package. If you downloaded it you will have to use diskdrake which also does a good job but you have to pay attention to the installation instructions. Read twice click once, it saves a lot of headaches. If you have bootmagic it does all the partitioning pretty well and boot magic will handle all your dual boot chores. I use a third party partitioning tool (bootit) because I already had it on hand and I use grub for booting. I like Grub because I can make my boot menu look like anything I want by editing the grub config file in the /boot directory. Set aside about 2.5 gig for linux and you will be able to load more software than you will probably ever use. Linux programs (with some exceptions) aren't as bloated as windoze software so you can fit many more of them on the disk. Remember back up your windows files before you begin the mandrake installation because Murphy's Law is always in force. You should always back up your important files before any major software install in either windoze or Linux. Thats just common sense. Have a good time. I think you will enjoy Mandrake it really is a fine product.
