Don't get an option to install a bootloader during instalation

I am running the new mandrake and am very new to linux. Anyway, during setup mandrake just skips over the bootloader part (lilo?) and right into the next part of install. What is going on?

is this a fresh install? or a Upgrade/Reinstall?

The same thing happened to me when I installed Red Hat, but it gave me the option to make a boot disk.

I just used loadlin after that, as it didn't seem to install the lilo file (and I didn't know how to get it).

If it's 8.0, try making sure it's the expert install. The newbie install might try to do it automatically for you.
