I recently bought a copy of Slackware and started palying with linux. Having been a windoz user XF86 was close to my heart. Everything went well until I tried to up the default rez to 1024x768. I have an S3 Virge/Dx card and a monitor capable of much higher rezolutions. Playing around with XF86Config got me to the right rez but its not full screen size, neighter is centered.
Any help or ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Aaahhh!!! The S3 Virge 3-Decelerator.
Irrespective of what your monitor will handle, the Virge has a refresh rate of about 60 htz. This will eventually give you headaches. I would personally throw it away. You might sell it to someone you hate.
As to centering the desktop on your monitor, use the monitor controls. If yours is older than a year or two, dig around on the back for some knobs to tweak with.

This is long and complicated, but afterwards your screen will be centered and you will know everything there is to know about how your monitor and video card actually work.
