how to add users in slack

well.. installing slackware wasn't as hard as i thought.
but, how do i add a new user?
i tried newuser (i think that was it) and i gave a login name, group, and everything else.. but at the end (after press ctrl-c to abort or Enter to continue) the user was not created.

While we are asking about Slack. How do you setup printing in slack 7.1? Aside from my LM 7.1 computer, I run slack 7.1 off my daughters second hd. I like to be able to print to the print server.
